The banks of river Malini

The banks of river Malini in Kanva valley have spiritual significance. Even today it inspires and accentuates spirituality in the seekers. Sati Math, Barrage, Sahasradhara, Kanvshera Ida, Mapgarh, etc. are the places where one can reach Samadhi by sitting in Yoga. These places are serene and relaxing. They boost creativity. Ideal place for a poet and author who wants to gather her thoughts and come up with some refreshing ideas.

 

Shunya Shikhar

his place is 10 km on foot from Gurukul Kanvashram. Nowadays, Shunya Shikhar can be reached even after passing through Kotdwar. Earlier Mai Bhupa’s ashram was here. The followers of Sadafal Ashram have made their ashram here. Every year, devotees flock from every corner of India to meditate here.

 

Huge Siddha stone

It is situated at a distance of one km from Gurukul inside the Malini River. From 1972 to 1980, Yogiraj Brahmachari Vishvpal Jayant performed Yogasana, Pranayama, and meditation for nearly two to three hours regularly on this stone and attained samadhi. Yogiraj used to enter into a samadhi here to find a solution to the problems hovering over the Gurukul and unfailingly succeeded every time.

Tadkeshwar Mahadev

Tarkeshwar Mahadev, surrounded by dense Deodar and Pine forests, is nestled on a hilltop at an altitude of 2092 meters. It is an ancient holy spot dedicated to Lord Shiva. It witnesses droves of devotees during the Mahashivratri Festival. This holy place is situated at a distance of 69 km from Kotdwar and 37 km from Lansdowne. As per the legend, Tarkasur was a demon who meditated and worshiped Lord Shiva at this location for a boon. Pleased by his devotion, Lord Shiva granted him a boon of immortality as per his request except for Lord Shiva’s son. Tarkasur misused the boon and started killing saints and threatening gods. Sages asked for help from Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva married Parvati and Kartikeya was born who soon killed Tarkasur but at the time of his death, Tarkasur asked for pardon. As a result, Mahadev attached his name to the temple

 

Valley of Siddhas (Kanvaghati)

Near Kanvashram, on the banks of river Malini, is the valley of Siddhas. Many yogis visited this place and shared their experiences. The vibrations of Vedic mantras from 2 at night to 4 in the morning and the visions of perfect men have been reported by the yogis.


Mahabgarh

This is an ancient Shiva temple. It is said that the seekers residing here can predict the calamities like earthquakes. excessive rainfall, landslide, epidemic, etc. due to their yogic
powers and take adequate measures to avoid them. This place is situated at an altitude of 5000 feet above sea level. The view is mesmerizing. There is also a Dharamshala here for night rest. The priests of the temple are helpful and caring. The water comes from the source below. It is said that its shadow falls on Har Ki Pauri in the evening. The locals say that a Siddha Baba used to live here. He used to sit in meditation every day after taking bath in the Ganges at Har Ki Pauri.

 

Chandakhal

It is the source of River Malini. Siddhbali Temple, Gular Jhala There is a huge Hanuman temple on the road from Kotdwar to Pauri. It is said that a yogi saint Mahatma had done penance here to attain siddhi and samadhi. This temple is renowned as devotees from far and wide come to have the darshan of Hanuman ji. Once a year a big festival of four days is celebrated.


Sahastradhara

The word means a thousand streams. It is usually used for places where myriad small streams fuse into a larger one, 4 km upstream, this place has droplets falling from tall rocks into the Malini River.
